The development will have over 80 entertainment and culture venues

On February 16, 2023, His Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Prime Minister and Chairman of the New Murabba Development Company, announced the development of the world’s largest modern downtown in Riyadh, called New Murabba. The development is part of the Saudi Vision 2030 initiative and is expected to be completed by 2030.

New Murabba will cover an area of 19 square kilometers, located in the northwest of Riyadh at the intersection of King Salman Road and King Khalid Road. It will have over 80 entertainment and culture venues, walking trails, an immersive theatre, a new landmark called The Mukaab, and a museum, among other features. Sustainability will also be a core focus of the development, with green spaces, cycling paths, and walking trails.

The Saudi giga-project will have 25 million square meters of floor area, with over 104,000 residential units, 9,000 hotel rooms, 1.4 million square meters of office space, and over 980,000 square meters of retail space. New Murabba will be large enough to hold 20 Empire State Buildings and could potentially accommodate hundreds of thousands of Riyadh residents.

This ambitious development marks a significant step forward in the Saudi Vision 2030 initiative, and it is expected to contribute significantly to the growth and development of the country’s economy and tourism industry.
